Deadpool & Wolverine are among the strongest contenders for the 2025 Oscars.

Deadpool & Wolverine has begun to position itself in the Oscar race. Marvel's intention is to ensure that Ryan Reynolds plays the lead role and Hugh Jackman plays the supporting role, making it one of the standout names at the awards.

On the other hand, the same positioning will be used for all major awards. According to Variety, it will compete in the best comedy or musical category at events such as the Golden Globes, Screen Actors Guild Awards and Critics Choice Awards.

Deadpool & Wolverine could make its mark at the Oscars

Deadpool & Wolverine will also aim for nominations in technical categories, including set design, sound and visual effects, at the 2025 Oscars. The film's success has proven itself worldwide, with both Disney and Marvel returning to the role of Hugh Jackman as the X-Men's most beloved character Logan/Wolverine.

In addition, the film is expected to be included in the Cinema and Box Office Achievement category, which was recently introduced by the Golden Globes. This category, added last year, honors the year’s highest-grossing and most critically acclaimed films.

Greta Gerwig’s blockbuster Barbie, which won the award last year, was nominated for eight Oscars, including Best Picture. To be eligible, films must gross at least $150 million, $100 million of which must come from the U.S. or achieve similar digital streaming viewership figures as accepted by industry standards.

The original Deadpool, directed by Tim Miller in 2016, earned over $780 million worldwide, earning both viewers and critics alike.
